southern tip of Martinique.
La Savane
Take a sunset stroll through the leafy La Savane central park, a
garden-like setting overlooking the Baie des Flammands waterfront
in Fort-De-France. The park features statues of French empress Josephine
Bonaparte, and French nobleman Pierre Belain de'Esnambuc, who
claimed the island in behalf of France in 1635.

Study the life of French empress Josephine Bonaparte at this museum
set in a farm, her birthplace, in south Martinique. The museum is
open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
